After graduating with a master’s degree from FSU, Leah spent 10 years working for public agencies focused on environmental resource conservation and planning. She developed an interest in massage therapy and energy work during her own healing and recovery process after a car accident. Leah became a Florida Licensed Massage Therapist and Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1996. Leah was a Massage Instructor at Core Institute in Tallahassee, 2001-2005.
Leah specializes in working within a client's comfort zone to provide the most beneficial massage/energy work during each session. The client always sets the agenda for a session. Drawing from her own personal experience on the massage table with chronic pain, fibromyalgia and TMJ issues, Leah has developed an approach to body work which feels gentle, relaxing and non-invasive but is accomplishing the results of "deep" tissue massage and myofascial release.
Leah's clients include many with Fibro-Myalgia Syndrome (FMS), chronic pain, and sexual abuse history. Leah client's have also included babies with brain injuries, students in voice and music performance, hospice patients, and computer workers with "mouse" syndrome. Leah can provide basic relaxation massage or care to help you address specific health concerns and goals.
In addition to her massage studies at the Core Institute, Leah has studied: Traditional Chinese Medicine Shiatsu & Qi Gong & Polarity with Acupuncturists/LMTS Carol Kresge and Deanine Picciano Kirschner. Other classes include Trager, Feldenkrais, Advanced TMJ techniques, Usui & Karuna Reiki, Medical Massage, Energy Healing, and Working with Sexual Abuse Survivors. Leah teaches classes in massage therapy, Reiki and energy healing. Leah has given workshop on Recovering from FMS and Chronic Fatigue. Leah has given presentations at the FSU School of Nursing, both Tallahassee Hospitals, the Fibromayalgia Support Group and several other alternative healing groups.
